Take your time

How do you teach a 3.5 year old to slow down and take your time?  EV loves "working" in her workbooks.  We work on numbers, letters, spelling, and writing.  One of the workbooks we have is a connect the dots exercise.  Most of the time she just goes from one dot to the next without looking and then realizes that she wasn't going in the right order then gets frustrated because the picture is not right anymore and then doesn't want to do it.  I am always saying to her, "Slow down EV" and "Take your time."  Similarly when we are practicing writing, she's always rushing and then getting frustrated. She starts off so excited but then ends up just upset.

I see so much of myself in her. She wants to do everything herself, in her mind she can do it perfectly, and she lacks the patience to actually learn the proper way.  Instead she takes over, tries, fails, gets frustrated and then doesn't want to deal with it again.  Evangeline, take your time sweetheart. Time will pass us by so quickly. Stop trying to grow up so fast. Lets enjoy every moment we have, be thankful to The Lord for our blessings, and make memories to last a lifetime.  Mistakes will be made, no one is perfect, and we love you regardless.

Although Sometimes her wanting to do everything herself comes in handy!!
